Our previous Twingo, the car of my friend, we wanted to be replaced in 1995 by a younger one. The old had occasional small mankementjes but could itself last for years. However, it felt fell from the seats and was the lack of heating and power steering reason to watch something Jongers.
It had to be this time a Twingo with electric sunroof and no longer with a folding roof. I found long distances personally very tiring from the constant noise from the roof, that does not wash proof turned out!
Demands of the 'new' Twingo:
all electric
power steering
sunroof
1999-2001
aircon was no requirement !?
Several cars viewed on the Internet, many have been introduced or are in some vague Jet Cars dealers.
Renault dealership Bouman Alblasserdam where we had bought our first Twingo I noticed a copy of 2002, slightly above our set maximum budget but exceeding you anyway .... It was a 1.28V Expression in January 2002, gray metallic.
Made looked at the car and an extended test drive. The car looked at himself neat and had driven 52 500 km, but had many scratches and paint damage. Flink negotiation until they were of crazy, ha, ha. Stipulated that the damages were repaired and 1250 euro trade for the Twingo from 95 dragged out.
A week later we took the car and indeed, everything we had agreed was well executed.
What a difference from the previous Twingo: much better seats, much better sound insulation and ventilation. Well the same engine, only further modified. At the old Twingo hit the CD player over at every bump because of the tilt of the radio, this is the same radio history.
The Twingo has risen to become a faithful companion; economical, comfortable and very reliable. Until September little drove last year, mainly short distances.
Because my girlfriend changed jobs and all of a sudden went away at least 90 km a day went hard with the mileage. To diversify mileage they often took along my Fiesta.
This Fiesta last week exchanged for a Fiat Grande Punto Multijet Diesel, see and review Fiesta Grande Punto, the Twingo I now use the week as needed and for short journeys we take it with diesel .... Will I still think 6000 km per year total.
Pros:
- consumption; Average 1:17 or less!
- Like electric sunroof, although I personally prefer to
have air conditioning.
- Very reliable through the old 8v engine.
- You may save lamp replacement without the whole car
must demolish.
Negatives / problems
- sometimes creaking springs back, perhaps arm rubbers.
- Maintenance every 10,000 km, it is very pricey for many
kilometers. Maintenance at the Renault dealership, I think the way
quite pricey IKM consider especially now that the car much less drive
to go back to a universal company where I used to
come often.
- No air conditioning, but that was a choice.
- Annoying beep of the indicator, since I can
still not get used to.
All in all a very good car, that if we decide to keep two cars driving for years will continue to drive.
Should he ever go out and be replaced by another small one: the current Twingo will not get there, because we are no longer Twingo. The Citroen C1 is a candidate no. 1
shopping car ?? (76 790 km)
We are 2,5 months have passed since the first report. Since then drove little because we make most of our mileage with diesel. Yet we use the Twingo always for short trips. Consumption is now especially with city mileage even at 1: 14.9.
Soon there will be other hubcaps from a Twingo in 2009, will probably be funny.
Almost a shame that we are so little drive with this handy little car!
New MOT (77,700 km)
Time for a brief report. last week leave our Twingo features a fresh MOT. For this, go back to our old garage Autobedrijf Malipaard in Ridderkerk. Neat service.
The pads were found not to be sufficient for the MOT. These have been replaced.
No further details.
Finally, the Twingo recently provided a net set used hubcaps from the current Twingo. State fun!
Turn follows Malipaard in August.
beurtje ??? (80 441 km)
About time for an update of our Twingo.
By huge crowds in recent months we have had less attention to the appearance to say our cars and honesty that I am still somewhat less precise cleaning and vacuuming etc from the Twingo than our Grande Punto.
Recently, the Twingo again washed, there was a thick layer of dirt. When spraying the wash bay module I saw, unfortunately, damage to the windshield of the sunroof; by bird droppings is sit too long, the black lacquer their damaged and abandoned by spraying. Also, in another place the paint to bubble. It is an ugly sight. I'm going to look or find a used windshield through the demolition.
Furthermore, it goes great with this fine car. Nice economical, hassle free, only a beep with acceleration. Origin unknown.
I'm considering to postpone the turn in August; No, not because of the cost, which does not change, but because I otherwise again in January to a garage for MOT. I want to do now MOT in November and immediately turn. Mi must be with this mileage. I love the fluids good eye.
Further informed at Auto Bouman when they replaced the timing belt. This appears to be done in December 2007, but was not included in the maintenance manual. Next year, then another new distribution ......
Finally, I do not look for successors for the time being; It's a lovely car with very little (user) cost, and can last for years .....
So much!
Small turn and MOT (83 158 km)
Update our Twingo.
Remains a great, inexpensive trolley. Recently, we came suddenly tempted him to exchange for a Fiat Punto 1.4 16V 2004 with very low mileage and lots of options. However, the price of the Punto and the trade of the Twingo were "normal" a really good deal so it was not. Decided just to keep the Twingo and perform scheduled maintenance.
Yesterday a small turn out + MOT be carried to our Twingo at Autobedrijf Malipaard in Ridderkerk.
There were some issues to light, but had since July last year, no maintenance to do more.
Important addition to the regular maintenance was the replacement of the two stabilizer bars + rubbers to pass the MOT. Furthermore, wiper blades, front and rear and the tube from the rear wiper. The sprinkler spurted Rather backwards on the road behind the car .....
Before the stabilizer bars were replaced rattled car indeed, though we were used to it. He now runs a lot quieter.
Finally, I asked the witness rear suspension (by taking thresholds) to be injected, but this has not helped. I suspect that the wishbone rubbers by the little use of the car are quite dry, but as long as they have not yet replaced .....
Total cost of turn + MOT was 360 euros.
Consumption is currently at 1: 15.2, where we usually drive small pieces.
Attend a keeper!
damage! (85 680 km)
Weee a short update. I realize that we drove very little since the previous review. This is going to have to change a little. A move will be driven increasingly living / work travel with. We have jobs while many small pieces with the Twingo driven and used it as a convenient car to buy with stuffing of the construction and .... waste.
Through all the small pieces of the consumption is now 1: 14.5.
Last week our parked Twingo was hit by a trailer. Result, bumper and tail light broken. Tomorrow things will be restored.
Despite the lack of air conditioning and so super fogged windows in the winter, I always appreciate this car. I drive still most of my wife in my car.
I think we just in December replaced the distribution, water pump, rear tires and also the outlet (probably) and drive good. C1, how great, can not compete in terms of comfort and luxury with the Twingo.
wedding carriage (93 630 km)
06-03-2013, time once again named an update of our Twingo, affectionately Twingie. It remains a nice car, we got him, now already more than 4 years.I beginning Friday itself on my 3rd car since we Twingo ....
do Since September I drive myself hardly in because we got cars substituted for commuting.
At 91500 km in December, we perform a small turn at Autobedrijf Malipaard and also the replacement APK and timing belt and water pump.
Real complaints we had not, it was more regular maintenance.
We got the car back with a cracking in the front wheels and a rattle under the hood. For the APK is the trackball replaced so the wheels were off and the whole thing later had to be aligned. Obviously went back to the garage. It has been well explained that the crash was not caused by, but that chance must have been. Maliepaard has later greased the support arm rubbers and a hose otherwise mounted under the bonnet, so that the rattle is indeed reduced. The arm rubbers were still in good condition otherwise be indicated.
Unfortunately, it cracks still like crazy. Through a friend, the car goes soon to a friendly mechanic who's going to watch us.
Well, the cart starts to get some age ailments; the wheel creaks again since today, sometimes there are some other things. If it freezes a lot, then sit inside always completely closed and the lack of air conditioning you have to get up earlier to get away ....
But it remains a very reliable engine and wonderfully efficient. Consumption is in the cold period and the rides 8 km one way every day around 1:14, but I expect that will be a lot more favorable direction 1: 17.5, just like every year.
We drive about 7,000 km per year.
Twin chute for us to stay. This mileage is also good. We keep going as long as he continues to do well and is not too small.
Cost? A hoot, cheaper it gets!
Update ..... and sold! (115 628 km)
Time for an update !!! In 2013 made the last ......
How is it now sinking our trusty cart since March 2013?
Very good! It kept starting and running with this truck!
Meanwhile, outside the normal maintenance had some extra:
The stabilizer rods were replaced in 2012 proved of poor quality. These have been replaced again. Furthermore, for both springs are replaced after a broke off. Furthermore, there are 4 new tires come on; the rear tires stemmed more from 2002 and had adequate profile but were very dehydrated.
The cracking was off and come back to, only with humid weather!
Since we have the Twingo was a baby too stuffed with baby carriage, etc. Again, the Twingo proved surprisingly spacious.
In 2014, looking round for a 5 door car with a view to the little one was coming. But my wife wanted her Twingo not lost. Meanwhile, I was the one who wanted to keep him happy to ride .....
but ........ Despite anything to the Twingo wrong we decided to go look for something else end of 2015. Lack of air conditioning , need five doors, the desire of something more car for the safety ........
We decided to go for a five-door Clio, built in 2008/2009. Combining 5 door and not too much mileage is tricky! We were looking for a 1.2; a 75 hp version would be considered like a TCE enough for us.
After extensive searches ridden on the Internet with multiple Clio's. Trade of the Twingo was also mixed. Eventually at VKV Spijkenisse bought Clio 1.2 75 hp Business Line in 2008, gray-blue metallic, with the extras cruise control, tow bar, alloy wheels. And € 2,000 received for the old Twingo. A huge step forward compared with Twingo. Though the Clio no electric mirrors and sunroof ....
To sum up: in the nearly seven years that we have rode this Twingo it emerged as an economical, highly reliable car! He is now on sale at CRR. A buyer may still have years to enjoy this car. Also continues our previous Twingo rides around 1995.
