This is my first review of a car here at Autoweek so I'm going to do my best to give a good picture of my supplied Renault Mgane IV hatchback TCe 130 Bose in May 2016.
In connection with a change in family composition I was earlier this year to find a replacement for my Renault Clio in 2014. The Clio has given me a lot of fine mileage worried but with 2 adults and 3 children growing up was, especially during holiday trips, yet a bit a bulk and weight. Therefore, I was going to look at a bigger carbon copy. Because I drive Renault for quite some years without any major problems / defects (touch wood) I came so quickly at Renault off.
At first my eye fell on the Mgane III Estate but because I mainly went back more space, rather than the boot, said my dealer; why take the new hatchback Mgane not even considered?
After much deliberation (and of course grope a little deeper into their pockets), it eventually became the Mgane IV hatchback TCe 130 Bose.
And I have as yet not regretted it!
Obviously a Megane III Estate had also met my needs but you have still a predictive model with ditto depreciation. And you still always have to think ahead when you purchase a car. The lower the resale value if you sell it back, the bigger the hole is to be paid in the next!
But back at the new Mgane;
Let me start with the looks, the design. Also in this model must say that Laurens van den Acker again delivered a clever piece of design work.
The new Mgane is less 'lascivious' designed as Clio and Kadjar but that suits me just that. It all looks tighter, sturdier.
Which of course is most pronounced in the eye are the light units.
Both front and rear are the LED daytime running lights and LED lights acher d signature of the car.
Everyone will have a time at the sight of the C-shaped daytime running lights and taillights continuous immediately recognize the Mgane.
I have also chosen the pack with LED PureVision. As a result, the low and high beam also LED.
Besides the fact that the light units of the Led PureVision the smoelwerk the car a lot tougher doing eyes, it is also very pleasant and safe programs to drive LEDs at night.
I chose the color Etoile Noir (Black metallic). I like the dark color in combination with the red of the LED tail lights and white / blue LED PureVision and LED daytime running lights fantastic eyes!
The car looks inside very nice. The front seats and rear look through the combination of fabric and TEP (artificial leather) very chic. The dashboard has soft materials a luxurious look. It all looks just very decent and neat.
The car is completely stuffed with security systems like lane departure warning, blind spot assistant, automatic traffic sign recognition, high beam assistant, and so on.
I must say that all systems are complementary and I'm also sure use.
A nice gimmick is the multi-sense system. Allows you to customize your car a 'feeling' at the time. You can choose between modes: Sport, Comfort, Eco, Neutral and Personal.
The different modes are a number of things like throttle response, engine noise and adjusts the degree of power steering. At each position also includes a color you see on the touch screen and TFT-counters at the wheel. But also in the doors and center console you can see the color come back with LED lights.
I use the Comfort mode (blue) the most and occasionally Sport mode (red).
All you really need it of course does not have but it looks it is cool and honest, between Comfort and Sport mode, you notice a real difference in handling. The throttle response feel the car in Sport mode really sportier. Though its power, of course.
What I positively still the most noticed the new Mgane has to be the driving comfort.
The car drives really like you drive a premium car. The engine sound is quiet and barely audible. Also, I hear very little wind noise. Shifting is very smooth and the so-called "long stroke" that I read in other reviews, I have absolutely no problems. I think the switch just very pleasant and direct.
Are therefore called downsides? There's really only diploma; thing that strikes me, until now. That is the R-link 2 system.
I had this in my Clio R-Link (1) system which was very user friendly and the speech of the navigation had a very clear, calm voice.
This is in contrast to the system 2 R-link. You will hear a squeaky robotic voice that can not even whole sentences speak Dutch.
So you have for example, "rechtdon at the roundabout" and you need to "drive up rotoneel 'the.
While the warnings controls nine times out of ten also incorrect. For example, they warned a mobile control no sign field of roads and warning then remains tens of kilometers. It remains are being warned to reduce the rate itself .... if you stand still!
Very annoying everyone. It is at the very least special to call it a ge-evolved system (I go there at least from the need to have a successor system improvements over its predecessor) is actually worse and use unfriendly!
If Renault R-Link 2 system now also would be a lot better than I can rightly say that you have a premium feel in the new Mgane for a non-premium price!
